The 2027 race brings a new start in the city of Zurich and a grand finale in Davos.
The route and full event details will be announced closer to the event. In the meantime, the 2026 information below will give you a better idea of what to expect.

2027 Swiss Epic Route
5 Days | 10,000m Climbing | 11,000m Descent
The 2027 Swiss Epic route is not yet confirmed. It will be revealed closer to race day, but one thing is certain: the adventure will take you from Zurich to Davos across spectacular urban and alpine terrain.
Expect around 340 km of riding, 10,000 m of climbing and 11,000 m of thrilling descents. Over five unforgettable days, you’ll tackle legendary trails, conquer iconic mountain passes and share the journey with riders from around the world.

The Grand Opening: Where it all begins
The Swiss Epic begins where flow meets freedom. Stage 1 takes riders deep into the Engadin, blending fast valley sections, playful singletrails, and iconic alpine highlights. Climb towards Albulapass, ride the legendary Albula Trail, and traverse high above the tree line on the Muntatsch–Marguns ridge.
From turquoise moments at Lej Alv to flowing descents like WM Flow Trail Corviglia and Foppettas, the stage is a constant mix of rhythm and surprise. Fast valley stretches along the Inn River and historic trails through the Engadin complete the opening chapter. This is where it begins: confidence builds, rhythm forms, and the Swiss Epic comes alive.

Time Trial: Ride Beneath Giants
Start high. Ride fast. Finish deep in the Engadin. Beginning at over 2,300 metres on the legendary Bernina Pass, this stage is all about speed and precision. Ride alongside the turquoise waters of Lago Bianco, flow through glacier valleys beneath the Bernina massif, and tackle the punchy climb to Diavolezza (2,321 m) before a fast and technical descent.
Forest trails around Pontresina, hidden singletrack near Bever, and the wild landscapes of the River Inn complete this intense alpine challenge. Glaciers, flowing trails and flat-out speed alpine racing at its most beautiful.

Important Stage 2 Update
Due to forecast heavy rainfall and thunderstorms throughout Thursday, 20 August, and in the interest of rider safety, Swiss Epic has made the decision to relocate the start of Stage 2: Time Trial to La Punt.
As a result, Stage 2 will now start and finish in La Punt and will no longer start at Bernina Pass. The first riders will start at 07:30, taking on a revised 24km course. There will be no bike transfer to Bernina Pass and all bikes will remain in La Punt. Start times will be published on the Epic Series App later this afternoon.
A final weather assessment will be conducted tomorrow morning. Should any further changes be required, a rider communication will be issued at 05:30.
The event organisers, together with local authorities and weather experts, continue to monitor conditions closely. The safety of our riders, volunteers, and event staff remains our highest priority.We ask all riders to remain attentive to their email, the Epic Series App, and Swiss Epic social media channels for any further updates.

The Queen: Decisive and Brutal
This is the stage that defines the Swiss Epic. The Queen Stage demands everything: big climbs, thin air, and legendary descents. Ride through the hidden beauty of Val Susauna, pass through Zernez, and tackle the iconic ascent to Scaletta Pass (2,606 m) the highest point of the race.
From the summit, an unforgettable high-alpine descent drops into Dürrboden before fast forest trails and open meadows carry you all the way to Davos. Big mountains. Big moments. This is Swiss Epic at its purest.

Important Stage 3 Update
Due to continued adverse weather conditions forecast for Friday, 21 August, Swiss Epic has made the decision to adapt Stage 3.
Stage 3 will now start and finish in La Punt and will no longer follow the planned route to Davos via Scaletta Pass. Riders will take on a revised route of approximately 61km with 1,650m of climbing, utilizing trails not ridden during the previous two race days.
The start time for the first riders will be 07:30. Following the stage, riders will be transferred to Davos by shuttle/bus. Bikes will be transported separately by truck.
This decision has been made in consultation with local authorities and weather experts. Key considerations included the forecast of low cloud cover, which will limit helicopter rescue capabilities if required, continued rainfall increasing the risk of trail deterioration and localised landslides, and cold conditions at higher elevations along the original route. Thunderstorm activity also remains a factor.
The event organisers, together with local authorities and weather experts, continue to monitor conditions closely. The safety of our riders, volunteers and event staff remains our highest priority.

Fatigue has set in, and the mountains don't care. Stage 4 is a true test of resilience, blending flowing sections with demanding technical trails where focus becomes your greatest weapon. Start high on the spectacular Panorama Trail, descend the fast and technical trail to Gotschnaboden, and flow through the forests of Wolfgang and Deelenwald.
The stage finishes with the fast, natural Flüela Trail, before one final push on the Ischalp Trail leads back to Davos. Stay sharp, keep pushing, and the race can still change.

The Final Rush: All in. One last time
One last push. One last descent. One last chance to make it count. The final stage delivers a fast and emotional finale, climbing to Clavadeleralp (2,007 m) before linking together some of Davos' most iconic trails. Ride through the fairytale forests of Junkerboden, pass the picturesque village of Monstein, and enjoy spectacular sections of the Alps Epic Trail Davos and the historic Old Zügen Trail above the dramatic Zügen Gorge.
A final push on the Ischalp Trail leads onto the Bolgen Trail, where one last flowing descent carries you back to Davos. The mountains release you and you realise: you conquered the Alps.
