MYCLIMATE "CAUSE WE CARE" - Get involved! Join forces for environmental and climate protection

The SPAR Swiss Epic takes athletes on a journey like no other and leads them on 5 days through the beautiful landscapes of Graubünden. Sustainability has a high priority. This is why the SPAR Swiss Epic cultivates a respectful attitude towards nature.

Protecting the environment through responsible handling of resources is important to us. And you can help us. Under the myclimate «Cause We Care» initiative, we give you the opportunity to make a voluntary contribution and help us support environmental and climate protection.

With a voluntary contribution per team you will be supporting our climate protection measures and taking responsibility for the carbon emissions generated by your SPAR Swiss Epic experience. As a thank you, we promise to double the amount. Part of this sum will go toward supporting high-quality international climate protection projects operated by Foundation myclimate. The rest of the contribution will be invested in our local climate protection measures or in the organisation/operator.

For responsible care of our environment

  • You are part of the SPAR Swiss Epic and make a small voluntary contribution for environmental and climate protection.

We double this amount and put your contribution and ours toward the SPAR Swiss Epic’s own myclimate «Cause We Care» sustainability fund.

This fund finances local climate protection measures. And you’ll be taking responsibility for the carbon emissions of your experience.

Together we will double the impact. For nature, the environment and the climate. Thank you!

  • Climate protection measures
The «Cause we Care» fund is used to implement various climate protection measures.

    PET-Shirts and Slingbags
Thanks to the upcycling program of hutterporducts.com, all staff members as well as volunteers wear T-Shirts entirely made from high quality recycled PET material from coastal and high-risk areas. The slingbag, which each rider receives at registration, is also made out of the same material.

    Food and beverages
We make sure that riders as well as staff are catered to a large extent with regional and seasonal food during the event, thus making an important contribution to the preservation of nature. In addition, reusable or degradable tableware will be used wherever possible.

    Service Stations
Riders will have the opportunity to refill their own bottles at several locations along the route.

Wooden trophies and Epic Kids medals
Our trophies as well as Epic Kids medals are made from regional wood and suppliers.

    Waste separation
Sufficient recycling points will be placed in each Race Village so that waste can be disposed properly.

Reusable coffee mug and beer glass
Each rider receives his own reusable SPAR Swiss Epic coffee mug and beer glass at registration, in which coffee and beer can be served daily.

    Upcycled branding material
Old branding is reused and transformed into bags or medal ribbons, for example.

    Official Race Hotels
When choosing our Official Race Hotels, we always consider sustainable hotels whenever possible.

Fairtrail – Peaceful togetherness on the trails
The campaign “Fairtrail” promotes trail tolerance and a peaceful relationship between bikers and hikers on the trails in Graubünden.

You too can contribute to it. On and off the bike as well as during the race or in your spare time. Learn more about the campaign in the campaign’s “Fairtrail Codex”.

  • Clean Drinking Water for Schools and Households

The primary objective of the programme is to disseminate water purification systems to low-income households and institutions such as schools, starting in Uganda.

In Uganda, 40 per cent of people boil water for purification and many more do not treat water at all. In addition, wood harvest for domestic cooking and boiling water is one of the major causes of deforestation.

The Program clean drinking water enables access to water purification technologies at household as well as institutional level such as schools.
