Be Part of the GEES, Spectator Information

Are you ready to experience the thrill and excitement of the FNB Wines2Whales? As a spectator, you have the opportunity to plan a lekker day out while following your riders along the course. Here’s everything you need to know to make the most of the race and cheer on the riders and enjoy some of the Overberg magic along the way.

Stage 1: Spectator Points

Benguela Cove

Race Start

Benguela Cove is the start point of this year’s FNB Wines2Whales. Send your riders off in style and enjoy breakfast, great wine, and delicious food with beautiful views over the ocean and lagoon.

Genevieve MCC

Spectator Point A / Water Point 1

Your first opportunity to catch the riders is at Genevieve MCC (Klein Botrivier Farm). This is the perfect stop for a glass of bubbles while taking in the Bot River scenery and farm activities. Expect plenty of energy here as it’s also the first water point of the day.

HouwHoek

Spectator Point B / Water Point 2

Voted one of the best farm stalls in the Cape, Houw Hoek offers a relaxed setting where young and old can enjoy great bites to eat, beverages, and a good view of the riders.

First riders expected: 08:40

Paul Cluver Amphitheatre

Spectator Point C / Water Point 3

The final spot to see the riders before the finish line, note that if you watch them come through here you might miss them finishing as this point is only around 6km from the end.. This is also the first and last spectator point for Stage 2.

Oak Valley Estate

Stage Finish

The Oak Valley Wine Estate race village is a hive of activity and full of GEES. The Chill Zone is the perfect place to wait for your riders while enjoying a cold Devil’s Peak beer, Oak Valley wine, or Plato coffee. Over weekends, enjoy lunch at the Elgin Railway Market or the Pool Room Restaurant on the estate.

Stage 2

Oak Valley Estate

Stage Start and Finish

The Oak Valley race village remains the centre of the action for Stage 2. Relax in the Chill Zone or explore nearby eateries and markets while you wait for your riders to return.

Paul Cluver Amphitheatre

Spectator Point A and B / Water Point 1 and 3

The Paul Cluver Amphitheatre is always buzzing with GEES and excitement. Park and walk to Spectator Point A, then stick around to see the riders come past a second time at Point B. De Rust School will keep the vibe alive with live entertainment as riders pass by, while Ciovita brings the energy at their signature cheer corner.

Oak Valley Estate

Begin the final day at Oak Valley Estate, where good coffee, great company, and plenty of GEES set the tone for what’s to come.

Idiom Wines

Spectator Point A / Water Point 2

Located just after the infamous Gantouw Pass portage, Idiom Wines is the perfect spot to catch riders as they make their way toward the finish at Lourensford Wine Estate. Enjoy a wine tasting and soak up the stunning views from this spectacular estate.

Lourensford Wine Estate

Stage Finish

Welcome the riders home at the prestigious Lourensford Wine Estate. On weekends, explore the Lourensford Market or enjoy a meal at one of the estate’s restaurants. With a winery, coffee roastery, art gallery, and plenty of open space, it’s the perfect place to celebrate three days of mountain biking.
